West Berkshire Mencap
The Mencap vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life. Their mission is to transform society’s attitudes to learning disability and improve the quality of life of people with a learning disability and their families.
Newbury Christadelphians have been pleased to support this valuable work with time and the use of the Lighthouse hall.
Newbury Soup Kitchen
Newbury Soup Kitchen provides a freshly cooked and prepared hot three-course meal every Thursday, Wednesday, and Saturday evening for the homeless, vulnerably housed, less fortunate and the street homeless of Newbury and West Berkshire. This is far from as simple as it sounds; the preparation and time involved to cater for nearly 150 meals each week takes a team of volunteers to pull off, but it doesn’t stop there.
Newbury Soup Kitchen strives to help people by providing a broad spectrum of healthy food provision and outreach to care for those in need in our community.
Christadelphian Meal A Day
CMaD’s mission is, as a practical witness to our faith, to share the blessings we receive from God to help those who are in real need in the less developed parts of the world.
We support sustainable ‘down to earth’ projects that focus on supporting vulnerable children, the provision of clean water, agricultural skills, basic health care and education and a meal a day. Our hope is that by touching the lives of our ‘neighbours’ in need we might by our actions help to also teach them something of the love of Jesus and the hope of everlasting life to be found by faith in him.
The charity is run from within the Christadelphian community and each of its trustees and officers give their time and expertise free to CMaD.
Christadelphian Samaritan Fund
The Christadelphian Samaritan Fund (CSF) was set up in 1961 to enable members of the Christadelphian community to contribute to the relief of suffering and human need outside the Christadelphian community. Our name comes from the parable of the Good Samaritan, which Jesus told with the intention to bring to life God’s commandment that we should love our neighbours as ourselves.
In this parable (Luke 10: 25-37), the Good Samaritan, despite the traditional enmity between Jews and Samaritans, came to the aid of a Jew who had been badly injured by thieves and left to die. Elsewhere, Jesus teaches us to: “Give to him who asks you…” (Matthew 6:42) and Paul exhorts us to: “…do good to all, especially those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10)

Christadelphian Care Homes has over 40 years’ experience of delivering care to those within our faith, and others, who need a ‘helping hand’ in later years. Whether you, your friend or a family member is in need of residential, nursing, dementia or respite care, we’re here to help and can assure you of the very highest quality care.
National Health Service
We have been delighted to offer the use of our hall to the local NHS services to assist the running and provision of relevant training for NHS staff in the area.
